Ruby Beach, Olympic Peninsula, Washington State

Sunset on Ruby Beach, Olympic Peninsula, Washington State

Ruby Beach is one of my favorite beaches and is easily accessible from Highway 101. I spent two nights in the area taking sunrise, sunset and Milky Way photographs. The Olympic Coast National Marine Sanctuary and three national wildlife refuges provide sanctuary for the marine life in this area. I’m sure that’s why the marine life is so healthy and abundant. The seastars and anemones looked much healthier at low tide on Ruby Beach than they did on Bandon Beach in Oregon.

I had been to Ruby Beach one time before but I didn’t time it right with the tides that time. This time I was better prepared and arrived at low tide for sunset and then low tide in the morning. I put on my muck boots and walked around looking at the colorful and plentiful tide pools. This is a fantastic beach at low time. I will post more photos of the intertidal pool creatures as I get things edited and sorted.
